Terms of Use & Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 12, 2026
Welcome to Safer Intersections. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site immediately.
1. Our Privacy-First Approach
We are committed to transparency and user privacy.
- No Tracking Cookies: We do not use cookies to track your browsing habits, store personal information, or identify you across other websites.
- Consent-Based Collection: We only collect personal information (such as your name or email address) if you voluntarily choose to provide it—for example, by filling out a contact form or submitting a safety report.
- Email Use & Verification: Any emails collected are used strictly for verification purposes (to ensure unique voting) and for future communication regarding Ouster lidar traffic systems.
- Right to Opt-Out: Your privacy is in your control. You may opt out of any future communications from us at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or contacting us directly.
2. Intersection Safety Contest Rules
- Winner Selection: The winning municipality will be determined on April 17, 2026, based on the highest number of unique, verified votes.
- Prize Fulfillment: Our primary goal is to donate and facilitate the installation of a lidar-based traffic safety system for the top-voted municipality.
- Contingency Process: While we will make every reasonable effort to coordinate with city leadership, acceptance of the gift is subject to local government approval and feasibility. If we are unable to reach a formal agreement with the first-place municipality within a reasonable timeframe, we will move to the second-place municipality, and so on, until a successful partnership is established.
- Voter Integrity: Only unique votes will be counted. Any attempts to manipulate vote counts through automation, scripts, or multiple identities will result in those votes being disqualified.
3. Information for General Purposes Only
The data provided on this site, including pedestrian safety statistics and intersection ratings, is for general informational purposes only.
- No Safety Guarantee: While we strive for accuracy, our ratings do not guarantee future safety at any specific location. Users must always exercise personal caution and follow local traffic laws.
- "As Is" Basis: This service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We expressly disclaim all warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of the data.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use this site for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe on the rights of others.
- Non-Commercial Use: You may use the data for personal or advocacy purposes. Commercial resale of the data from this site is strictly prohibited without written consent.
- Security: Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information are strictly prohibited and may be subject to legal action.
5. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Safer Intersections or its contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its data.
